A 'well-established' Edinburgh hostel is set for a huge transformation under new plans.
Kick Ass Hostels, in the capital's Grassmarket , started life at Budget Backpackers in 2004. It later rebranded, with owners now feeling they are 'operating at capacity'.
During the pandemic, the hostel launched a beer garden - which was described as a 'lifeline for the business'. Owners hope an extension will sustain their future, optimise the urban space, and have a minimal impact on the area.
Developers have detailed plans for the hostel in the proposal, which include providing additional accommodation at the rear of the existing building. This would comprise a development of four storeys, with a public bar on the ground floor.
