OMAHA, Neb. —

A man is accused of stealing a Chevrolet truck from a Sarpy County storage unit and writing fraudulent checks from the victim's account, according to court documents.

Timothy Phalen, 38, is charged with burglary, unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, second-degree forgery and theft by unlawful taking.

Court documents state Phalen stole the truck from the storage unit and the victim told investigators that checkbooks for their personal and business accounts were inside the vehicle.

The victim reported fraudulent checks totaling $8,300 were written against their accounts, according to investigators.

Phalen is a suspect in several storage unit burglaries, court documents state. He waived his preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to district court.
