JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of two undercover detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Monday in Duval County court.

Ja'Von Brown, 24, pleaded guilty to two attempted murder charges. His sentencing date will be set on Oct. 13.

On Oct. 3, 2024, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters announced Brown's arrest , as well as the arrest of 23-year-old Anthony Trotter in connection to the Sept. 20, 2024 attempted murder.

Two JSO detectives were in the 3000 block of Florida Avenue that afternoon conducting a narcotics investigation when Brown fired at least 18 rounds towards their vehicle, Waters said. Several bullets hit their car, "narrowly" missing them inside. Waters said they were "ambushed."
