EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The University of Evansville has issued a statement after an associate professor received backlash online for statements made following the deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk.

Following Kirk's murder, many have taken a public stance on the matter in the form of social media posts, including an associate professor with UE.

A representative with the University said the educator's views would not be silenced.

A statement from University of Evansville Chief Communications Officer Noah Alatza says:

“We recognize that people disagree with these views. We also recognize that Charlie Kirk valued debate and the exchange of ideas, even with those who disagreed with him. In that spirit, it would run counter to his legacy to ask that differing opinions be silenced. As a Univ
