Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) took a swing at Democrats in a report published Tuesday by The New York Times.
“The Democratic Party is not meeting the moment,” Cuomo said in an interview with the Times. “I think the Democratic Party has created the moment.”
In June, New York state Assembly member Zohran Mamdani defeated the former governor in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor. It was a stunning upset, as Cuomo had been widely expected to win.
Current New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) formally endorsed Mamdani on Sunday in a New York Times op-ed. The Empire State governor said she has “had frank conversations with” Mamdani and "disagreements."
