UPDATE: A McCaysville police officer who was shot in the line of duty over the weekend is preparing for his final surgery before heading home.

McCaysville Chief of Police Michael Earley says Captain Worley will undergo surgery to repair his nose fracture around 1:00pm on Tuesday.

"If all goes as planned, we will be escorting him home through McCaysville between 4:00 and 4:30 PM. We invite everyone who wishes to line the streets and show their support as we welcome our Captain back home," says Earley.

Captain Worley was shot shot in the face on Saturday after responding to a service call. A manhunt followed for the suspect, who was arrested almost 20-hours later.
