A man trying to enjoy the padded comfort of a couch at Caveau, 1 Center Plaza downtown, got tired of another guy who'd been resting his arm on the back of the couch, so he grabbed him, flipped him over the couch and then a fight broke out, police and a club manager told the Boston Licensing Board today.

A club manager said security responded within, at most, 30 seconds, and broke up the scuffling - and called 911 to request an ambulance.

The club was called before the board to answer a police citation for "assault and battery, patron on patron" for the May 24 incident, which sent the arm rester to nearby Mass. General for observation.
