ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - On Tuesday, 64 veterans boarded a plane bound for Washington, D.C. as part of the 112th Greater St. Louis Honor Flight.
The group included 56 Vietnam War veterans, six Korean War veterans, and two World War II veterans.
Ken Parks is one of those World War II veterans; he told First Alert 4 that he felt humbled to be a part of the group taking the flight more than 80 years after serving. Parks said for him, the flight is about remembering the trials of combat and sharing the stories of triumphs.
“I lost several friends, one was lost on D-Day going in,” shared Parks, “I also got to meet the other gentleman that served in WW2. So I’m anxious to hear some of his stories.”
For others, Tuesday’s flight provided a different opportunity.
