NEWTON, Iowa -- The Iowa Speedway in Newton won't be hosting an INDYCAR race in 2026.

The schedule for the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES was released on Tuesday morning, and the Iowa Speedway was left out.

The Iowa Speedway first hosted an INDYCAR race in 2007 with the Iowa Corn Indy 250. INDYCAR has held races at the Newton track every year since 2007, except in 2021, when financial issues at the speedway caused INDYCAR to drop the Iowa Speedway from the schedule.

Attendance at this past July's INDYCAR weekend at the Iowa Speedway was low, with the stands far from filled. The Sports Business Journal reported that fewer than 6,000 tickets were sold for each day of the event. The speedway can seat 30,000 fans without needing to add temporary seating options.
