NEWTON, Iowa – After nearly two decades, IndyCar has announced that the series will not be returning to the Iowa Speedway during the 2026 race schedule.
The Iowa Speedway first hosted an INDYCAR race in 2007 with the Iowa Corn Indy 250. INDYCAR has held races at the Newton track every year since 2007, except in 2021, when financial issues at the speedway caused INDYCAR to drop the Iowa Speedway from the schedule.
This year's July race brought new challenges. Hy-Vee pulled out as the title sponsor in February, and Sukup Manufacturing took over as title sponsor in April, just three months before the race. Leaders at the Iowa Speedway say those changes had a major impact on race weekend.
