Sidney Brown, known professionally as Omen, has passed away at the age of 49. The Grammy-winning producer was found in his Harlem apartment on Saturday, September 13. His mother, Martha Brown, revealed that a relative discovered him after co-workers expressed concern over his absence from work.

The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Omen was a prominent figure in the music industry, having collaborated with major artists such as Beyoncé, Drake, and Lil Wayne. He worked at Barawine Harlem, a wine bar in Manhattan, for over a decade. The establishment paid tribute to him on Instagram, expressing their shock and sadness at his passing. The heartfelt message stated, "There are not enough words to express our feelings. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, his friends and all who love him."

Ethyl’s Bar & Restaurant in New York City, where Omen frequently DJed, also honoured him on social media. They described him as a "Friend and Ethyl's Family Member" and highlighted his significant role in shaping the venue's atmosphere. The tribute praised his artistry, noting, "Sidney ‘Omen’ Brown was not only a DJ who could get our dance floor jumping, but he was also a Grammy Award Winning Producer."

Omen's career began in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with credits for artists like Mýa and Fabolous. His breakthrough came in 2006 when he produced "Tell It Like It Is" for Ludacris, a track that contributed to a Grammy-winning album. He continued to make waves in the industry, co-producing Drake’s "Shut It Down" from the album "Thank Me Later" in 2010 and Beyoncé’s "Mine" featuring Drake in 2013.
