Having staff or volunteers set up housing in national parks is nothing new. Isle Royale National Park functions almost entirely off of staff that lives on the remote islands that make up the park. Given the very short season that the park is open, having staff based out of the area is by far the most logical option.
Another national park is putting out the call for volunteers to live within the park's bounds. Unlike Isle Royale, however, this national park site has a bit of a reputation.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada has the dubious distinction of being the deadliest National Park in the U.S. Now, it needs volunteers to live on one of its campgrounds. Government Wash, which has been closed for over a year during extensive cleanup efforts, is ready to welcome campers bac
