Back in March, U.S. representatives announced plans to reintroduce a bill to turn Ocmulgee Mounds into Georgia's first National Park and Preserve . While this idea seems to have died out, Canada is now on a similar path. This country has 37 national parks and 11 national park reserves, protecting over 84,757,000 acres of land. Yet, these numbers may soon increase.

Parks Canada recently announced through a press release that the country may welcome a new national park in the Yukon territory. While the project is still in its initial stages, all parties involved have declared that creating a new national park is both ‘practical and desirable.’
