BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The California Highway Patrol announced a Start Smart class for teen drivers and their guardians in the Bakersfield area on Sept. 23.
The class is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at the CHP Bakersfield Office, located at 9855 Compagnoni St., according to CHP.
Start Smart is a free class offered to current and prospective teen drivers, as well as their parents or guardians. The class is set to run for two hours and discuss issues like safe driving habits, consequences of making poor choices behind the wheel and tips on how to avoid a crash.
The class seeks to make parents and teens more aware and educated about driving and become prepared to handle the stress that comes with being a new driver, according to officials.
