BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Kern County Animal Services recued over 50 pigs from a hoarding situation.

According to the Kern County Animal Services, the response was complaint driven. On Sept. 3, 50 pigs were surrendered and on Sept. 10, 24 pigs were surrendered.

Animal control officers made multiple sweeps to rescue the pigs and the rescue team contacted animal rescue programs for the pigs.

Within 24 hours, over 50 pigs were transported to the shelter, all the male pigs were neutered and nearly all the pigs left the shelter.

Criminal charges are not being sought, according to KCAS.
