BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Gentlemen, if you’re over age 45, it’s time again for your annual prostate screening. No, not that kind of screening. A PSA blood test.

And it’s free through the month of September at the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center, which is offering the quick and simple blood test at no cost, no insurance required.

KGET's Robert Price went in for the test on Tuesday. It was painless and took less than 60 seconds.

Dr. Ravi Patel of CBCC says it’s all about early detection.

“Prostate cancer particularly is a fairly common cancer and one of the most common cancers in men,” Patel said. “And, again, if you pick it up early, you’ve got the best chance of cure. And the best way to pick it up is through a PSA test.”
