No timetable has been set to determine which group will eventually manage the Salt River horses, according to Rachel Andrews, spokeswoman for the Arizona Department of Agriculture.
In July, it was announced a new caretaker for the broncos of the Salt River wouldn’t be determined quickly after one group vying to win a five-year state contract is disputing language in the original bidding request.
The current management group, the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group that works with Arizona Department of Agriculture, complained the agency shouldn’t have the ability to remove horses from where they reside due to a law that relates to “stray” livestock.
