Detectives are urging the public not to share a video clip on social media which appears to show the lead up to the murder of a teenage boy in Manchester.

The clip, which is circulating on a number of platforms, appears to show a large group of children involved in a mass brawl.

In an update on Tuesday evening, Greater Manchester Police said it was aware of the footage.

"We would ask that people refrain from sharing that further, due to the impact this could have on the victim's family and any future prosecution," said the force in a statement.
