DAYTON, Ohio —

The bodies of a missing father and daughter have been recovered from the Great Miami River after a lengthy search.

Dayton Police and Fire stated two bodies were found Monday in the river near W. Riverview Avenue and W. Monument Avenue after a caller reported seeing a body in the water. Advertisement

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirmed Tuesday the two people recovered were identified as 9-year-old Scarlibeth Garcia Montes and her father, 28-year-old Oscar Garcia.

The search began last week when Scarlibeth's mother reported the two missing. Dayton police located the vehicle belonging to the family in the parking lot near Code Credit Union and the child's shoes, socks, keys a tablet and cell phone were located near the river.
