MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The motorcyclist who died after crashing into a utility pole Sunday in Rock County has been identified, the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office said Tuesday.

Officials say the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, when the motorcycle rider lost control on a curve of East County Highway A in Johnstown and struck both a mailbox and a utility pole.

The victim was identified as Nathaniel D. Sharpe, 44, of Delevan. He died at the crash scene.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Sharpe died from injuries he suffered in the crash.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash. Both the crash and Sharpe’s death are under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department.
