NEWMARKET, N.H. —
With New Hampshire deep into a growing drought, some homeowners are finding that their wells are running dry.
According to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, nearly half the state depends on private wells for water. As the drought deepens, more of those wells are running dry, leaving homeowners scrambling for help.
"The conditions are worst in the northern part of the state, but certainly, we are in some drought throughout," said Ted Diers, of the DES. "We expect that drought to be deepening. There doesn't appear to be relief, at least anywhere close on the horizon. And we expect that the area of extreme drought will start to move pretty much throughout the state over the next weeks."
