DIXON, Ill. — A local community college is under new leadership.

Sauk Valley Community College announced Dr. Jon Mandrell as the College's seventh president on Tuesday. He was elected by the SVCC Board of Trustees in a unanimous vote.

Dr. Mandrell has worked in multiple roles at the College, including his current role as Vice President of Academics and Student Services. He is also the first Sauk alumnus to be president.

"In Dr. Jon Mandrell, we have found a leader who embodies the spirit of the Sauk Valley community while bringing a vast amount of experience to our students, faculty, and staff," stated Board Chair Bob Thompson. "Dr. Mandrell's application process was supported by an overwhelmingly positive campus-wide evaluation recommending him in all aspects required of an exception
