The reaction of Manchester’s top cop to the news that the New Hampshire Supreme Court will hear Michael Addison's appeal of the death sentence he received in 2008 for murdering Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs two years before is a simple yet honest one.

Enough is enough.

"While I respect the legal process, I believe this continued appeal is an injustice to the family,” Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr said Tuesday. “The defendant was found guilty in court, his case has been through the appeals process, and the guilty finding was upheld. Allowing him yet another opportunity only prolongs the suffering for the family, is an emotional drain on the officers of the Manchester Police Department and law enforcement across New Hampshire, and undermines public confidence.
