A man wanted on extortion and firearms charges in an Ontario case has been arrested in B.C.
Gurdeep Shergill was the subject of a countrywide warrant after being identified by Peel police as a suspect in a pair of shootings on July 10 and 11 in Brampton. Investigators confirmed the shootings were related to extortion attempts targeting South Asian Canadians. There were no injuries.
Earlier this month, Surrey police were notified that Shergill was in Surrey and they arrested him. Shergill, a 26-year-old Delta resident, faces one count of discharging a firearm with intent, and one count of extortion. He has been returned to Ontario.
Alongside Shergill, Husandeep Singh, a 20-year-old Mississauga man, was arrested back in July and charged with one count of discharging a firearm with intent
