FORT WORTH, Texas — Trenace Dorsey-Hollins admits she gets anxious when her phone lights up with a call from her children’s school.
“I'm like, is there something wrong with my child?” she said.
During the first week of school, the Fort Worth ISD parent was caught off guard after a series of automated calls from both her daughters’ campuses. Dorsey-Hollins has a six-year-old in first grade and a 15-year-old in 10th grade.
“Two days later, Scoop, I got a final phone call telling me that I needed to complete the household survey,” she recalled.
The household survey is a short form found inside the district’s parent portal.
It asks families to share their household income information, which helps the district determine eligibility for free and reduced lunch, apply for state and federa
