WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — A 16-year-old has been charged with five felonies after making threats to two high schools in Polk County, the sheriff's office said.
At around 11:05 a.m. on Monday, Auburndale High School received a phone call in which the caller said that he was hearing voices in his head and was hiding in a school restroom with an AK-47.
"You need to find me before I go into a classroom and take hostages," the caller said.
Just a few minutes later, Winter Haven High School also received a threatening call, in which the caller said he had a rifle and that he planned on "shooting up the school at some point today," the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
The department's School Threat Assessment Team began investigating the calls and found that they came from the same phone
