Gov. Greg Gianforte has appointed Sen. Chris Pope, a Democrat from Bozeman, to serve on his newly created Unleashing American-Made Energy Task Force — a group charged with shaping Montana’s energy future.

Pope, who serves as vice chair of the Senate Energy, Technology & Federal Relations Committee in the Montana State Senate, will join 19 other members from across the state.

"I'm looking forward to serving on the task force, given the significant energy opportunities and challenges facing Montana," Pope told the Chronicle via text message. "I will be interested to promote a free-market 'all-of-the-above' energy policy that protects and values Montana consumers."
