Manchester United could be about to receive a major financial boost thanks to a programme from FIFA.

Next summer will see the 2026 World Cup take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada. United could see several of their players take part in the tournament and if they do, they are in line to receive a financial boost.

FIFA have confirmed that clubs will be entitled to receive a portion of the Club Benefits Programme (CBP), an initiative which also took place for the 2022 World Cup which was held in Qatar. FIFA distributed $209 million (£153m) for clubs that allowed their players to take part in the tournament, which was held in the middle of the season for the Premier League .
