NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- The North Royalton City Schools may rehire Superintendent Michael Laub when he retires in August 2026.

That means Laub would join the ranks of “double-dippers” who collect taxpayer-funded state pensions while simultaneously earning public salaries.

“I will be eligible to access my pension through the (Ohio) State Teachers Retirement System this year,” Laub told cleveland.com Monday.

“To do that, I must technically ‘retire.’

“I am 52 years old and still love what I do, so I plan to work a while longer,” Laub said.

“When I shared my plans with the (school) board, we had a discussion about me staying in North Royalton.”
