MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The CEO of Tops Bar-B-Q said in a statement that its East Memphis location that went up in flames Sunday night was intentionally set on fire.
The Memphis Fire Department (MFD) said the restaurant — located at 3970 Rhodes Avenue — caught fire around 8:30 p.m. In a report, MFD said the fire was ruled as an incendiary and started "in a commercial outdoor grease trap."
The department said firefighters "quickly" got the fire under control, adding that the restaurant was unoccupied and under construction when the fire erupted.
