GRAND FORKS — A man in Grand Forks is drawing attention from drivers for the sign he has been holding in support of Charlie Kirk following the murder of the conservative media figure.

Elijah McGovern has been out every day since the killing, standing for at least an hour to make sure people remember what he says Kirk died for.

McGovern has held signs on several Grand Forks streets in the past five days. On Tuesday, Sept. 16, he stood in the median of the road just off 32nd Avenue South near Texas Roadhouse.

His first sign included an expletive, which he said expressed the anger he felt after seeing Kirk shot. Since then, he and his wife created a new sign featuring handmade artwork of a bloody microphone.

McGovern said he believes it is important for everyone to have freedom of speech.
