TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A refugee from Cuba was caught allegedly smuggling children, a woman, and a man in Cochise County late last month.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the 32-year-old suspect, who was living in Avondale, was arrested Aug. 27 following a chase near Bisbee.

CBP said remote technology showed several people “trying to enter the United States illegally through the desert.”

Agents then spotted a vehicle and tried to pull it over, but it sped away.

Agents set up tire spikes to stop the truck, but several people in the vehicle tried to run away.

CBP said two minors, a man from Mexico and a woman from Ecuador, were detained. All were accused of being in the U.S. illegally and were deported.
