ORONO -- The Maine Black Bears once again find themselves coming off of a tough loss, this time in their home opener against Stonehill College, where they lost 13-10.
In a highly defensive game, Maine found success putting pressure on the opposing quarterback, registering four sacks for a total loss of 30 yards, as well as forcing a fumble.
The Black Bears offense struggled to find much success through the passing game, but continued to shine with their rushing attack. As junior running back Sincere Baines rushed for over 100 yards, and Maine as a whole totaled 171 yards and added a touchdown on the ground.
Both head coach Jordan Stevens and graduate quarterback Carter Peevy expressed the importance of a consistent run game when it comes to the team’s offensive success.
