An off-duty police officer was killed Monday after being shot multiple times at a Circle K gas station in Ormond-by-the-Sea, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Chitwood said the suspect, 24-year-old Eduardo Machado, was a clerk at the Circle K.

The sheriff said surveillance video showed Machado exit the store when Jewell entered and walk out to a white Kia before returning with a jacket over his arm.
