GOOCHLAND, Va. (WWBT) - Drug maker Eli Lilly and Company announced Tuesday it is coming to Goochland County.

The pharmaceutical giant said it’s building a $5 billion manufacturing plant somewhere in the West Creek Business Park.

“Right here in Virginia, we are going to make medicine for people around the world,” Dave Ricks, CEO and Chair of Eli Lilly, said.

State and local leaders joined the company on Tuesday for the announcement at Richmond’s Main Street Station, including Governor Glenn Youngkin and members of Goochland’s Board of Supervisors.

“A $5 billion commitment to build a state-of-the-art campus, first of its kind in America, right here in Virginia, we got to clap to that,” Youngkin told the crowd.
