Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has been emphatically called out over his “straight out lie” in the wake of Labor’s controversial climate forecast.
The government’s climate change agenda has come under the microscope since the National Climate Risk Assessment was published on Monday, ahead of Labor’s expected 2035 emissions reduction target call.
Speaking to media upon the report’s release, Mr Bowen, referring to the Australian Climate Service’s assessment, described impacts of climate change as “cascading, compounding, concurrent”.
“There isn’t an Australian community that isn’t impacted by climate change going forward, and there isn’t an Australian individual for whom those impacts won’t be real and material,” the minister said on Monday.
