A UK exchange student who moved to the Gold Coast as part of a student exchange program has taken to social media to highlight some of the words that she has been forced to learn since moving to Australia.

Laura Collins, who comes from Cambridge in eastern England, posted to TikTok a series of slide posts elaborating on some of the Australian terminology and colloquialisms that she has learnt.

Ms Collins, who is studying a PhD in linguistics said she was confused at some of the words that are used by Australians, especially when she heard the term "Manchester" which was not describing the northern English city.
