The Catholic high school will open in Aspen Woods in 2028

The Calgary Catholic School District blessed the ground and hosted a sod-turning ceremony for the future site of the West Calgary Catholic High School in the community of Aspen Woods on Tuesday, which aims to address capacity concerns at other high schools in the city.

Full construction funding for the capital project was announced by the province in May, and an estimated opening date has been set for 2028.

CCSD chief superintendents said the school district is bursting at the seams, and the addition of the new school will reduce some of the pressure.
