COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 17-year-old was arrested after a shooting in the University District , just hours before the Ohio State Buckeyes kicked off their home game against Grambling State.

Columbus police say officers were called around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 6 to a reported fight at East 13th Avenue and Pearl Alley, near the Ohio State University student union. The incident occurred in view of a city crime camera.

Officers responding to the scene found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

According to police, several witnesses at the scene helped quickly identify a suspect. Body camera footage shows officers running toward the area and apprehending the 17-year-old suspect just blocks from the shooting. Officers also recover
