WASHINGTON — A new lawsuit alleges that DC Water discriminated against older employees in 2023 when it fired them to then hire younger, less experienced hires.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) against the DC water and sewer agency.

The age discrimination lawsuit focuses on Courtney Titus, a former DC Water employee who began working for the agency's Human Resources department in 2017. The EEOC claims that Titus and other "high-performance" experienced older workers were terminated in September 2023.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by WUSA9, Titus received positive performance reviews and a supervisor rated him as successful or exceptional in all categories before his termination. Titus was reportedly 54 years old when he was fir
