LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - TreesLouisville believes someone tore up and stole trees from a downtown street, and now they want LMPD’s help to find who did it.

An Instagram post from the group shows they discovered the theft when doing their weekly checks. Seven trees on this stretch of Meriwether Avenue disappeared.

Group president Cindi Sullivan says TreesLouisville had permission from the adjacent property owner to plant these trees.

“The added irritation about this particular project is two different Metro Council members gave us money to do this planting and had wanted that planting for a long time, and we were able to make it happen,” Sullivan said. “It’s not just our trees. It’s a community tree.”
