AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Big changes could be coming to one of Augusta’s historic neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, Augusta Commission members took a step forward with the Turpin Hill Revitalization Concept Plan.
The proposal is aimed at transforming the area with new mixed-income housing and other major developments.
New hotel could be coming to downtown Augusta
A proposed hotel could be coming to Broad Street in downtown Augusta. If approved, it could go next to the Augusta Candle Co. and right across from Garden City Social.
The plan includes senior housing, townhomes, single-family cottages and even a neighborhood grocery store in the neighborhood that’s bounded by Molly Pond Road, Old Savannah Road, Olive Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and is home to Carrie J. Mays Park.
