AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Paine College hosted its President’s Inaugural Community toast, celebrating a new chapter of leadership and shared purpose.

The event took place on Tuesday at the fountain located at Haygood-Holsey Hall. It is part of the investiture ceremony at Paine College, which features a week of activities showcasing Dr. Lester McCorn and the institution.

New hotel could be coming to downtown Augusta

A proposed hotel could be coming to Broad Street in downtown Augusta. If approved, it could go next to the Augusta Candle Co. and right across from Garden City Social.

McCorn, the current president of Paine College, was hired in October 2024 but officially took over at the beginning of 2025.
