New developments have emerged in the investigation into the injury of Deshler High School student August Borden .
The Madison County District Attorney's Office has taken over the case previously handled by Colbert County, due to a potential conflict of interest.
Borden suffered a severe skull fracture and concussion at the school, leading to his hospitalization. His parents have disputed claims from school officials that the injuries resulted from a fall, noting that August cannot recall the incident due to the severity of his injuries.
"He is missing his freshman year of high school and all the firsts that come with it, including homecoming. He will never play football again, and the impact of his injuries is something we will continue to navigate without a set timeline," the Borden
