CLEVELAND — Saint Ignatius High School confirms one of its students was robbed near campus late last week, leading to increased safety patrols in the area.
According to school spokesman Jeff McCormick, the incident occurred this past Friday, when the student "was approached and robbed at gunpoint by multiple suspects on Friday." Cleveland police later confirmed the robbery took place about two blocks away around 6 p.m.
McCormick added that the teen was not hurt and complied with the suspects by handing over his wallet and car keys. Following the altercation, the school says members of its security team are working with the Cleveland Division of Police's 2nd District to up law enforcement presence in the area.
Authorities say no arrests have been made at this time.
