RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A normally quiet street in Blythewood was shaken this week by a deadly shooting .

Just before 5 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the 100 block of Haygood Road, a few miles outside Blythewood, following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they say found a woman shot to death and a man with serious injuries.

Late Tuesday afternoon, deputies arrested 41-year-old Fred Gause in connection with the shootings. Gause faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

Neighbors say the normally quiet street is home mostly to elderly residents.

"It's just nothing but elderly folks, and you know someone is my age, you know, that's around here now and there's no hard traffic, you know, any kind that that's going on around here," said Avery Green, who lives nearby.
