CONWAY, Ark. - Atherton said he bought a house on Lake Conway in 2020 because he had retired and wanted to fish on the lake.
"One day, it just disappears, and all this grass is growing out there. And it just made us sick. To the point we just left.” Atherton said.
Once Lake Conway began draining in 2023 for renovation, Atherton decided to move.
Over the years, renovation continued. Trey Reid with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said the latest major milestone in the project is completing the boat lanes.
"What the boat lanes are going to do is allow anglers to move around on the lake a lot better. And feel safe and secure in doing that,” Reid said.
