OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Owensboro City Commision made the decision to purchase a former Juvenile Detention Center at the city commissioner meeting on September 16.
According to officials, the intent is to redevelop the property on Highway 54 and sell the facility to a private buyer. Officials say the redevelopment isn't expected to cost taxpayers anything.
Officials say a private buyer would demolish the old facility and redevelop the area for commercial businesses. Demolition is expected to take place within the next 6 months.
