United Democratic Front (UDF) leader, Atupele Muluzi, has appealed to Malawians to remain calm as some individuals begin circulating unofficial election results.

Writing on his official Facebook page minutes ago, Muluzi—who is contesting in the presidential race—stressed that this is a critical moment for patience and peace.

He further reminded Malawians that the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is the only legally mandated body to release official election results.

Currently, citizens across the country are anxiously waiting to know who will emerge victorious in the presidential election and lead Malawi until 2030.

Malawians went to the polls today to elect the President, Members of Parliament, and Ward Councillors.
