FOREST GROVE Ore. (KPTV) - Crews responded to a fire in a wheat field that burned seven acres Tuesday, according to Forest Grove Fire & Rescue (FGF&R).

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the fire on Northwest Gales Creek Road, near Mystic Drive, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, they found a tractor fully engulfed in flames, as well as over an acre of cut wheat fields on fire.

Because of winds in the area, crews had to work quickly to prevent the blaze from crossing Gales Creek Road towards houses nearby.

Firefighters were able to stop forward progress of the fire in about 20 minutes, and spent another 45 minutes mopping up hot spots.
